MJoTA Friday Night Movie

Jul 27, 2012. Suzana. From Burundi. Apart from freaking me out listening to the lovely singing of my name, I love this movie. Ah. I feel they made this movie for me.
Jul 13, 2012.

Hotel Rwanda. Harrowing movie made from the fact of the Rwandan genocide in 1994. This is the story of heroism and refusal to accept death as the only outcome.
Jul 13, 2012.

Frequently I need to listen to Australian voices so I can assure myself that I really did grow up in Australia. The plot for Youtube: "An investigation into a government cover-up leads to a network of abandoned train tunnels deep beneath the heart of Sydney. As a journalist and her crew hunt for the story it quickly becomes clear the story is hunting them."

Jul 20, 2012. Moon landing for real. Way cool.
Jul 20, 2012.

Today is the anniversary of the first moon landing in 1969, when I was in my last year of high school and we were all sent outside to watch on a tiny black and white television the landing. I couldn't see anything, but that didn't matter, it was happening and we were marking it.

Jul 20, 2012. Haitian movie. "Ipokrit" Helps if you know a little French, or a lot of Creole. Unfortunately, it has vanished.
Jul 13, 2012.

Brazilian movie, which is in Portuguese, which you can learn on the MJoTA page on Brazil. Page on Brazil click here.

Jul 06, 2012.

Another Tamil movie. I can't get enough of these.
Unfortunately the first vanished, but another one is below.
Jul 06, 2012. Tamil movies. Where criminals look like criminals, and maidens look like maidens. And great, great music, oh yes!
Jul 06, 2012.

Movie from French director Mathieu Almaric. Made in 2010, got some awards. Great movie to relax by, after you have danced to the Tamil music above. Unfortunately the movie vanished, but it is worth finding if you can.

From Youtube: "On Tour (French: Tournée) is a 2010 French comedy film directed by Mathieu Amalric. It stars Amalric himself as a producer who brings an American Neo-Burlesque troupe to France, played by genuine performers Mimi Le Meaux, Kitten on the Keys, Dirty Martini, Julie Atlas Muz, Evie Lovelle and Roky Roulette. In a road movie narrative, the plot follows the troupe as they tour French port cities with their show, which was performed for actual audiences during the production. The inspiration for the film was a book by Colette about her experience from music halls in the early 20th century, and a part of Amalric's aim was to translate the sentiment of the book to a modern setting.

The film premiered at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival where it won the FIPRESCI Award, the festival's main prize from film critics. Amalric also received the Best Director Award."
